Merry Christmas

It’s not my daughters first Christmas but last year she was only 22 days old. This year she is alert and semi knows what’s going on. I have learned to see the magic of Christmas again through my daughters’ eyes-each new discovery amazes her and that joy thrills me.  Each time you plug the lights in and the tree is illuminated she gasps! She is thrilled with packaging as much as she is with the presents previously wrapped in them.  My daughter dances with each carol sung on the TV or radio. She likes that we laugh, clap and cheer for her performance.  What a blessing she is and what a joy it is to know that as much as Justin and I love her, God loves her even more. As she gets older we plan to teach her the true meaning of Christmas -we will celebrate the birth of Jesus.
May you and your family celebrate Jesus this year and enjoy each others company this holiday season. God Bless & a very Merry Christmas to you!

No you did not SANTA!

A friend of mine took his daughter to see Santa at the mall yesterday.  His 4 year old little girl was talking to Santa and mentioned that they moved to Boise from Seattle this year. She wanted to make sure he could find their new place.  Santa replied with "Seattle? I used to live there too." Epic fail Santa!!!!
How on earth do you explain that one to a 4 year old! Oy!!!

My daughter's Winter ONEderland Party

This banner I ordered from www.shindigz.com
Cake from Albertson's bakery and they made her smash cake for free
Snowflakes all over the walls and from the ceiling from the Dollar Tree
Could she be any cuter? :-) And she loved her cake!
Her outfit was custom made by Madi's Diva Designs http://www.etsy.com/shop/schurgerbarnes
I made these thank you cards and attached them to silver snowflake ornaments I got at Target. Perfect party favors!

If you have a winter baby I think this is such a fun idea! It went so fast but I think all in all it was a success!

Bacon, Cheese & Egg Biscuit Cups

If you are a busy mom but want to feed your family a hearty breakfast. These are perfect on the go!  With the busy holiday cooking right around the corner why not make a dozen of these muffins for now and throw the other dozen in the freezer?!

Mommy Brain!

I’ve got the diaper bag loaded with everything I could possibly need for a variety of circumstances. My lil Munchkin is bundled up and belted in her seat. I pull out of the garage and realize I have NO SHOES ON!
I’d like to tell you that this only happened once but the truth is this is the 3rd time in the last 11months!

Mama’s don’t let your babies watch television

Some moms feel very strongly that letting your child at such a young age watch a show can have a very negative effect on them.  And Yes I have met the mother who shields her six-month-olds eyes from the screen if it’s on and they are passing through the room. For me a sing along Veggie Tale video or Baby Einstein’s Mozart video can keep my daughter entranced for 20 minutes! 20 minutes!!!! That is enough time to unload and reload the dishwasher and maybe even get in a load of laundry! Hurray!!!!
We spend a great deal of time playing in the nursery, going for walks or meeting others for play dates. We don’t even have cable. It’s just 1 show to get some chores done once a day.  Do I think this will make my child turn out to be the next Lindsey Lohan-NO will I regulate what she watches and how much as she gets older YES!

The changing table is a battle ground

Why is changing my daughters diaper always a struggle? The fussing begins the second I set her up on the changing table. I try to give her items (like a flashlight) to distract her, I sing to her, I blow tummy raspberries, but this only satisfies for mere seconds.Soon she is arching her back, trying to roll over and loudly vocalizes her distaste. The end result - a crooked diaper and me wishing I could have a margarita!
Ugh and if there is poop involved; this procedure is on a whole other level. Oy!!! I have had poop smeared on the changing table pad, I have had her kick her foot in her poop but the worst was the time she put her hand in it then smacked my arm! The gag reflex kicked in real quick! I don’t know how to make it more enjoyable for either of us so….I think potty training is in the near future!     :-)
